Munoz brings a diversity of experience to NHEC, having served most recently as Chief Human Resources Officer at Families In Transition, a New Hampshire-based organization that works to empower people experiencing homelessness. Prior to that, she was Senior Director, Human Resources Business Partner at MSA Safety/Globe Manufacturing; and served as Director of Human Resources at PSI Molded Plastics in Wolfeboro, NH. “We’re fortunate to have Carla join our team, especially at this time of great change for NHEC and the industry,” said Clemsen Roberts. “NHEC, like electric cooperatives across the country, is facing the dual challenge of an aging workforce and new demands for skilled positions that have not traditionally been part of the utility landscape. NHEC Names Vice President of Broadband by NHEC | Mar 20, 2023 | Broadband, UncategorizedPLYMOUTH, NH – New Hampshire Electric Cooperative (NHEC) President/CEO Alyssa Clemsen Roberts is pleased to announce the hiring of Jonathan Nelson as Vice President of Broadband. Nelson will work to guide and grow NHEC’s fiber-optic internet subsidiary, NH Broadband, which was founded in 2020 to provide high-speed internet access to all NHEC members, regardless of their location. Nelson brings more than a decade of telecommunications experience to the job, having worked in various roles in construction, design, engineering, operations, customer service, and management. He comes to New Hampshire most recently from Delta-Montrose Electric Association in Colorado, where he served as a manager in their wholly-owned broadband subsidiary, Elevate. “I am excited and ready to serve the members of NHEC, support my co-workers, and make high-speed broadband available everywhere NHEC members reside,” Nelson said. “This is a massive undertaking, but all the pieces are in place for success: proud employees, excited members, supportive board and a cooperative that understands the importance of broadband internet access to rural communities.” NH Broadband is providing fiber-optic internet service at speeds up to 2 Gigabit per second to more than 1,200 customers in six New Hampshire towns. In 2022, NHEC was awarded a $50 million grant from the state Department of Business and Economic Affairs to support construction of fiber-optic networks that will serve 23,500 homes, businesses and municipalities in 73 New Hampshire towns. The first phase of that project is set to provide service this spring to NHEC members in parts of Plymouth, Holderness, Hebron, Rumney and Campton. “We’re at a transformational time in our broadband business and Jonathan has the opportunity and experience required to achieve our goal of universal access for our members,” said Clemsen Roberts. “With funding and resources in place, NH Broadband is poised to grow significantly over the next several years. NHEC Sets Deadline for Candidates Seeking Nomination to Board of Directors by NHEC | Feb 9, 2023 | Board of Directors, UncategorizedPLYMOUTH, NH – Members of the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative (NHEC) interested in being considered for nomination to the NHEC Board of Directors should submit their candidate material to the NHEC Nominating Committee by noon on February 20, 2023. Any NHEC member in good standing can run for a seat on the board. NHEC members vote annually to fill open seats on the board. Election ballots are mailed to all members in May. Winners will be seated at the Annual Meeting of Members in June. The NHEC Nominating Committee meets each year to review applications and interview candidates for the board of directors. Committee members consider the needs of the cooperative and nominate a slate of candidates they feel can best meet those needs. The candidates selected will be identified on the ballot as having been nominated by the nominating committee.
NHEC Expects Restoration Tonight, Prepping for New Storm by NHEC | Jan 24, 2023 | Outage, UncategorizedPLYMOUTH, NH (January 24, 2023; 12 P.M.) – Working their fourth major storm in five weeks, NHEC and contract line crews expect to restore power to most NHEC members impacted by yesterday’s storm by 10 p.m. tonight. Some individual outage locations will persist through tomorrow. Heavy, wet snow brought trees and limbs down on power lines in more than 50 locations on January 23, 90% of which were located in the southeastern New Hampshire towns served by NHEC’s Raymond District operations center. Tree crews and more than 30 line crews are in the Raymond District today making system repairs and reconnecting impacted members. At the height of the storm, approximately 5,500 NHEC members had lost power. Crews and support teams will have a brief time to recover before another winter storm is forecast to arrive on Wednesday, January 25. This storm is expected to produce the same heavy, wet snow in the same areas that were most impacted by the January 23 event. NHEC’s resources will remain ready for this next storm event. “Mother Nature has demanded a lot from our employees and our members over the past several weeks,” said NHEC President/CEO Alyssa Clemsen Roberts. “Multiple, extended power outages are disruptive for our members and exhausting for our staff. That’s why we’re preparing for this next event with a special emphasis on safety. Deep snow can easily hide a downed power line. High Efficiency Electric Home Rebate (HEERA) Rebate Caps Heat pump hot water heater: $1,750 Heat pump for space heating and cooling: $8,000 Electric stove, cooktop, range, or oven: $540 Heat pump clothes dryer: $840 Electric load service center upgrade: $4,000 Insulation, air sealing, and ventilation: $1,600 Electrical wiring: $2,500 Installation: $500 and is commensurate with scale of upgrades installed The guidance Federal Government has not issued guidance programs and it is not anticipated that these rebates will be available to homeowners until late 2023.
