Police in several towns have received reports of people claiming to be NHEC employees who are seeking to gain access to members’ homes.

NHEC employees do make occasional unannounced visits to members’ homes for a variety of reasons, but always carry company identification and drive vehicles marked with the NHEC logo. If you are unsure of a person’s identity, DO NOT LET THEM INTO YOUR HOME. CLOSE YOUR DOOR, LOCK IT AND CALL POLICE.

Be aware that there are companies with sales people going door to door offering to sell electricity to NHEC members. You should always confirm their identity and their purpose for being there. Under no circumstances should they require access to your electric meter or get inside your house for any other reason related to your electric service.

Remember:

  • Confirm the identity of any person making unsolicited sales calls at your home – ask to see a company ID with photo.
  • Never provide any personal information like bills, account numbers or credit cards.
  • Never let anyone into your home without knowing who they are and why they’re there.
