Supported entirely by voluntary donations
The NHEC Foundation strengthens the communities served by New Hampshire Electric Co-op by funding local nonprofit organizations that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Grants support programs focused on member assistance with electric expenses through Project Care, food security, seniors, youth, veterans and other community needs. Together, Co-op members have helped the Foundation award more than $6 million to initiatives that improve quality of life throughout our service territory.

How we support our communities
Community grants
The NHEC Foundation provides grants to eligible nonprofit organizations serving people in NHEC communities. Funding priorities include NHEC member assistance with electric expenses through the Project Care Program, food security, seniors, youth and veterans.
Project Care
Project Care provides financial assistance to NHEC members who are struggling to pay their electric bills. This tax-exempt charitable program has helped thousands of members stay connected to the power they need.
NHEC Foundation scholarships
Each year, the NHEC Foundation awards six $1,500 scholarships to NHEC members or their children pursuing an accredited undergraduate program. One scholarship is reserved for a student entering a vocational or technical institution.
