New Hampshire Electric Co-op is committed to supporting the educational growth of students in our communities. Check our roster of school programs below to see if the Co-op can be a part of your schoolís curriculum.
Washington D.C. Youth Tour - High School juniors who are the children of Co-op members or attend a school served by the Co-op are eligible to win a free five-day trip to Washington D.C. as part of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Youth Tour. The New Hampshire Electric Co-op is the state sponsor for the Youth Tour program. Each year since the early 1960's, about 1,500 high school students from 48 states have visited Washington, D.C. to learn more about government, U.S. history and rural electrification. The trip includes sightseeing, visits with New Hampshire Congressional representatives, a dinner cruise on the Potomac River and an interactive Town Hall meeting that features nationally known speakers. For more information, please contact Audrey Simpson at (603) 536-8699, or simpsona@nhec.com.
Electrical Safety presentations - designed for elementary school students in grades 2-5, this free program mixes fun and learning to stress the importance of playing it safe around electricity. For more information, please contact Seth Wheeler at (603) 536-8685, or wheelers@nhec.com.
Energy Efficiency in the Schools - The Co-op can put you in touch with various programs that offer hands-on lessons in energy efficiency. These programs are offered subject to available funding and are not administered by NHEC. For more information, please contact Audrey Simpson at (603) 536-8699, or simpsona@nhec.com.
Child I.D. Kits - The Co-op distributes child identification kits free of charge to members. These kits, provided by the National Child Identification Program, allow parents to collect specific information by easily recording the physical characteristics and fingerprints of their children on identification cards that are then kept at home by the parent or guardian. If ever needed, this I.D. Kit will give authorities vital information to assist their efforts to locate a missing child. Kits Kits are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the following locations:
- Plymouth headquarters of NHEC
- Alton Police Department
- Colebrook Police Department
- Conway Police Department
- Lincoln Police Department
- Meredith Police Department
- Newport Police Department
